There were some wonderful mud sections enjoyed by many!
Days of rain before the race, then sunshine on the day of the event made for a pleasant, playful day.

This is one of my favorite images
Notice the joyous abandon while scampering through the mud.
I'm not sure that I would call this running.
Although the water is not up to their knees, I'm sure that I cannot see either persons shoes or socks!
Karen reaches the far side of yet another puddle.
Some choose to dance around, some plow right on throught the puddles.
The debate rages on whether it is faster and less tiring to run right through the puddles vs putting the extra energy into finding less muddy areas around the trail-edge to keep shoes a little less muddy and heavy. Who knows!!!!!! I think it comes down to what is more fun for each person.
There seemed to be nice stretches of respite from the mud before another series of unavoidable mud zones were encountered again.
